Are You Really Forgiven?

Welcome back to our Friday Facebook live series, How to Overcome Lies from the enemy.  Two weeks ago I shared that the first lie the enemy told Adam and Eve could be summed up as, “You cannot trust God.”  Last week I suggested that this lie has layers much like an onion.  We got to the core of the onion by digging deep into Is God Really Love?  Click here to read it, then go to Living Bellissima’s Facebook page and listen to what I added to it that night.

Today we will look at one of those layers, “Are you really forgiven?”  Wow, that’s a powerful lie that the enemy has told me.  Do you hear that?  Do you believe you are not really forgiven?  I think it’s common because there are plenty of scriptures to use to overcome this lie.

I am not condemned.  Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  This is a good verse to put in your arsenal.  If you are in Christ, you are free from condemnation.  The Holy Spirit is our advocate not our accuser.  If what you are hearing does not sound like the Holy Spirit then it’s probably not the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit reminds us of our identity in Christ and encourages us to walk in that identity.  The enemy condemns us.  Replace the condemnation with truth, which leads us to our next declaration.

I am forgiven.  1 John 1:9 proclaims, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  God is not a liar.  If He says we are forgiven, then yup, you guessed it, we are forgiven.  David writes in Psalm 103:12, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”  How far is the east from the west?  Considering the two never meet and the universe expands beyond human comprehension, I’d say pretty far apart.  But God’s Word doesn’t stop there.  How about Micah 7:19?  “You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.”  Do you get the point?  He is saying that we are forgiven, we are released from our sin, and He has cast them as far away from us as possible.  In fact in, Jeremiah 31:34b, the Lord is speaking and here’s what He has to say, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”  Here is an example of something God cannot do…He cannot remember our sins!  So if you are being reminded of the sins you have already been forgiven of, then who is reminding you, because it isn’t the Holy Spirit?

Memorize these short verses and the next time you hear this lie, quote these verses, and watch the enemy flee!

Join me tonight at 8PM MT to go over this devotional.  I’m excited to share with you what God has been stirring up in me to share.

Walk in freedom today, friends, know that you are forgiven!
