This is my Great-Granny’s Cranberry Sauce that has been passed down several generations. This is my favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving. I know you will want to add this to your Thanksgiving Menu.
- 1 bag of cranberries
- 1 apple cut into 1 inch pieces (This year I used Gala because they were on sale. You can use any kind except a tart apple like a Granny Smith.)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
Simple Steps:
- Combine water and sugar in a medium sauce pan.
- Bring water to a boil.
- Add cranberries and apple. Return to boil.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Pour into blender. (I do this step several times.) Puree.
- Pour through a mesh strainer. Work the sauce through the strainer using a spoon.
- Allow to cool until room temperature. Store in refrigerator in an air tight container.
- Enjoy over mashed potatoes, stuffing, or turkey!
