This is my favorite go-to dessert. I love anything chocolate and especially a brownie. My mom used to make these brownies. When I moved out-of-state when I was 20, she wrote the recipe on a card. I still use that card today. I thought of taking a picture of it, but the card is quite stained and I’m not sure you would look on it as fondly as I do. To me, each stain represents a great memory. In fact, there are stains on top of stains, showing the 20+ years I have used this same card. I used this recipe to create Kurt and my wedding cake. Why not have a brownie at a wedding? We did. I know you will enjoy them as much as I do.
- 1/2 c vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 c sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1/3 c unsweetened cocoa (I always use Hershey cocoa, I can tell the difference)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 c nuts (optional – I never use nuts)
Simple Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9-inch square pan.
- Blend oil, sugar and vanilla in large mixing bowl. Add eggs; using a spoon mix well.
- Add flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir until dry ingredients are incorporated.
- Stir in nuts.
- Spread in pan. Bake 25 – 30 minutes or until brownies pull away from edges of pan.
- Cool and cut into 16 squares.
- Enjoy!
