Day 1: I Love Chocolate
Over the next seven days I am going to challenge you to take care of yourself. As women, we are typically the caretaker. How can we care for others when we are operating in a constant state of burn-out? It’s pretty obvious; one of the most important ways we can take care of ourselves and not come in last place is to eat right.
I have always taken issue with eating right mainly because I LOVE CHOCOLATE. I like to blame my dad for this. As you can see in the picture, this is my dad feeding me chocolate on Valentine’s Day. I was less than 2 months old.
I have always tried to eat right. I make my family balanced meals. My favorite drink is water. My downfall is desserts. How about you? Share with us in the comments.
Over the last few months I have made some changes. Instead of eating Italian breakfast cookies for my snack, I am eating Simple Trail Mix. Instead of eating dessert after lunch, I am eating an extra piece of fruit. I have cut out sugar from my diet, except, the dark chocolate in my trail mix. I am not eating past 7 each night. After a month, I lost 5 lbs.
I used the app Lose It to count my calories. I learned two important things
1) without the sweets, I was eating pretty healthy and
2) how small a portion really is. Who knew?
Typically I give you simple steps to follow. However, I am not a doctor and don’t feel comfortable giving you simple steps. I will leave you with this, what are simple things you could change in your diet to make a big difference?
