Guest Room
I do not have a guest room and this year we are not expecting guests for the holidays. However, I know many of you either have a guest room or are expecting guests for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I am dedicating this post to you.
Preparing your guest room is similar to organizing any other room with one exception. You are doing this for someone else. Here is a chance to bless whoever is staying with you.
Let’s get right to the simple steps as you Prepare Your Home for the Holidays.
Simple Steps:
Wash the bedding. Clean sheets, bedspreads/comforters and blankets are essential. I remember being in my early twenties and visiting someone with dusty smelling sheets. It was awful. Don’t scar your guests.
Make room for their clothes. Clear a space in the closet and provide hangers. Make sure one drawer is empty for their use.
Have daily essentials on hand. On a clean, festive tray, you can pick one up at the dollar store, place a few items. I would include a box of tissues, a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, lotion, a new bar of soap, and a small vase of fresh flowers. Doesn’t that sound delightful?
Place reading material on the nightstand. Choose a magazine or book you know your guest would enjoy. If you are not sure of which book to put out then here is a shameless plug for my book, Reassigned: Evil’s Thief. I know they will enjoy reading it.
Add some holiday decorations. A few holiday decorations will add a nice touch for your guests.
Pray over the room. Ask the Lord to anoint your time together. As some families gather for the holidays, tensions rise. Seek the Lord for a peaceful visit.
Following these simple steps will go a long way toward you having a fabulous holiday season with your family.
