Laundry Room
We are starting the final week of our series Prepare Your Home for the Holidays. I think that calls for a shout of joy! I am so happy walking around my organized house. I do have one ugly corner in my bedroom full of donations. I have made one run to Good Will. Kurt volunteered to take the rest of the stuff when we are finished.
This week we are organizing our Cleaning Zone. This will include the laundry room and bathrooms.
I recruited Kate as my assistant. We have a small laundry room which consists of our washer, dryer, and two shelves above them. Kate is not afraid of heights like her mother. She jumped on a chair and removed everything from the shelves.
We got rid of a lot of stuff. We divided the top shelf into two categories. Candles and candle holders and vases. The next shelf holds three categories: cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, and simple tools.
On the dryer sits a silver 9″ square dish. This is where Kurt puts his keys, coins, wallet, sunglasses, etc. when he walks in the door from the garage. It is nice to have a designated landing place for his things.
I am so pleased with the outcome. I was sort of dreading this room, which seems silly because it’s so small. But once Kate and I started on it, we were surprised at how quickly we finished. I’m guessing we spent around 15 maybe 20 minutes organizing.
Follow this simple step to an organized laundry room.
Simple Steps:
Empty out the cabinets and shelves. Go through each shelf or drawer. Do you have anything you can get rid of? Anything you don’t use? Anything you can donate?
Divide your things into categories. An obvious category is laundry supplies. What else to you keep in your laundry room? Group items together.
Stand back and admire your work!
Come back tomorrow as we organize the master bathroom.
