17 days until Thanksgiving. Today we are solidifying our dinner guest list. Who is joining you at your Thanksgiving Day table?
Growing up we had a rule of thumb. Invite someone who doesn’t have any place to go. I was taught: no one should eat Thanksgiving dinner alone. Have you ever spent a holiday alone? I have. It helped me understand why when I was growing up there was always a big crowd at Thanksgiving.
This year we are going to Genevieve’s house for Thanksgiving. I know my sister; she will invite anyone who does not have a place to go. We will are blessed to be spending this Thanksgiving with my cousin, Vinnie, and his family. Kurt and I have friends we invite every year. They have now become part of our extended family. They join us every year for Thanksgiving regardless of who is hosting.

Simple Step:
Take my mom’s advice. Invite someone to your Thanksgiving feast who doesn’t have any place to go.
Create a guest list. Talk it over with your family tonight at dinner. Who do you want to invite? Who do you know needs a place to spend Thanksgiving?
Pick up the phone and make that call. Put the invite out there.
Come back tomorrow as we plan our dinner menu.
