Thanksgiving celebrations are really about the food. In my family, we eat the same thing every year. The menu has been passed down from my Great-Granny, to my Granny, to my mom, to Genevieve and me. I am now passing it along to my girls. I am a traditionalist. This absolutely appeals to me. We even use some of my Great-Great-Granny’s serving dishes; they are over 100 years old. When we are doing the dishes after the big meal, I am the one who has been elected to wash those dishes, nothing like pressure. I just called my mom and asked her to send me a picture of the dishes, thanks, Mom.
Here’s our New England Thanksgiving Menu
- Turkey
- Stuffing that we actually stuff in the turkey
- Cranberry sauce (I will be sharing this recipe on the blog before Thanksgiving)
- Squash Apple Bake (butternut squash, apples, and brown sugar)
- Mashed potatoes & gravy
- Turnips (honestly, I hate the turnips, but tradition calls for them)
- Rolls (this one I added, rolls were not included in the original menu, however, I love rolls, so we have added them)
- Apple pie
- Pumpkin pie
- Mincemeat pie
- Apple cider
