“Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.” Psalm 32:1,2
The other night at dinner our conversation switched to a fellow student of my girls. This student made a poor choice and was now having a consequence. Everyone was talking about it.
As I listened I felt such compassion for this child. What must it be like to have the whole school know what you did and talking about it? I told my girls how grateful I am that my mistakes are not broadcast for all to see.
As Easter approaches, I find myself thinking about Good Friday. I think about how my Lord took my sin on Himself so I would not have to walk in shame and guilt and condemnation. Because of Jesus I walk in freedom.
I am free from sin. I am forgiven. My sins are covered. I am blessed. The Lord doesn’t count my sin against me.
Try reading these verses with your first name: Blessed is Louise, Louise’s transgressions are forgiven, Louise’s sins are covered. Blessed is Louise, the Lord will never count Louise’s sin against her.
That’s quite the declaration!
Now let’s make it an I statement: I am blessed, my transgressions are forgiven, my sins are covered. I am blessed, the Lord will never count my sin against me.
Praise Him! We are forgiven. Today, walk in the freedom Christ bought for you!
