Be Still!

worship wednesday

“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet!  Be still!’  Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.”  Mark 4:39 (NIV)

I don’t know about you, but I needed this verse today.  It seems that of late, the wind and waves of life have been blowing and crashing into me.  I feel like I’m bobbing along barely surviving.  One thing comes up and my whole life is turned upside down.  To be followed by another thing that sends me spinning round and round.

The last few days I have felt exhausted.  As the full weekend wrapped up, I wondered where did the time go.  I don’t feel like I was able to rest, too much to do, too many responsibilities, and not enough time.  This morning, I stood in the shower, exhausted and the day hadn’t even started.  I called out to the Lord for help.

He took me to this passage in Mark.  In my Bible it’s entitled, “Jesus Calms the Storm.”  How fitting!  I need that reminder that He is the Prince of Peace.  He stands with me, rather, for me and commands the storms around me, “Quiet!  Be still!”

He is “my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.  He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2)

I love the fact that regardless of what is going on in my life, I have a God who loves me!

If you are feeling like me, call to Him, He will hear you, and He will speak, “Be still” into whatever you have going on in your life.
