Christmas Cards: Yes or No?

Christmas Card 1

I love receiving Christmas cards. I love seeing pictures of family and friends.  In fact, I still have pictures on the side of my refrigerator of some of the cards I received last year.

Now for the irony and honesty, I don’t send out Christmas cards. Is that terrible?

We did send them out one year. Kate was in first grade.  She had lost both of her front teeth.  She was so cute.  We took a picture of her standing in front of the Christmas tree with her big toothless grin.  We then took a piece of cardstock, folded it in half, and stamped snowflakes on the front.  I glued her picture to the front of the card.  Inside I had Kate write, “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth.”  It’s the cutest Christmas card ever.  Don’t you agree?

Christmas Card 2

Last year we talked about sending them out, but honestly, I never got around to it.

We do take a Christmas picture of our family each year. Two years ago, Genevieve and I gave our parents a family photo of the whole family.  Unfortunately that is before Sara joined our family.  Later this month we are doing it again.

The whole family, twelve of us in all, will go down to a studio and have our picture taken. What will we wear?  Last time we did black shirts and jeans.  Genevieve and I both love wearing black.  I’m hoping for the same thing.  If you are doing a family Christmas picture and are not sure what to wear check out Pinterest.  There are so many color combinations you will be inspired.

There are many choices when it comes to Christmas cards. You can make them by hand, buy a box of cards, order picture Christmas cards, or write a Christmas letter.

What will you do this year? Let us know in the comments section.

Simple Steps:

Decide if you are going to send out Christmas cards this year.

Schedule your family photo session. Will you go to a studio?  Hire someone to come to you?  Or set the timer on your camera at home?

Get the whole family involved. Kate and I had a great time making them.  Try making cards by hand.  We even wrote “Kards by Kate” on the back.  I know, dorky but cute.

Set a deadline to have your envelopes addressed.

Drop them in the mail the first week of December.
