Luke 2:15-20 NIV
“When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.”
Upon hearing about the Messiah the shepherds take off for Bethlehem. After seeing the baby, they told everyone about what had happened. They became messengers for the Lord.
A few months ago, I saw a Facebook post from one of my favorite blogs, Money Saving Mom. She posted that Starbucks was giving away a coffee or buy one get one free, something like that. I reposted it thinking my sister would want to take advantage of this great deal. I was amazed at how many people reposted the post from my page. It’s a free coffee and it got a lot of activity. How much more exciting is the birth of the Messiah!
If these shepherds had social media, their post or tweet about baby Jesus would have gone viral. The whole world would have known.
Let this stir in you the desire to share about our Lord with others. Be a shepherd this week and invite someone to your church’s Christmas Eve service.
