Help One Child

What hangs on your refrigerator? I’m not one for lots of pictures or papers on my refrigerator, but I do have a few things on the side of it. I have a picture of my daughter Sara with our friend Zoe from 5 years ago, a magnetic note pad, a magnet that says, “Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate”, a family friend’s Christmas card picture, and a picture of Wilson Daniel and a letter from him.

You may ask, “Who is Wilson Daniel?”

Wilson is the latest child I support through Food for the Hungry. Over the years, many different pictures have hung in that same spot. I see him when I’m cooking and I pray for him. He smiles back at me each day and his neat handwriting tells me of what he’s been up to.

This morning I received an email from Food for the Hungry asking if I would be able to support another child because the need is so great. As I read through it, the thought crossed my mind that maybe, just maybe you could join me in supporting a child who is in need of food, water, and possibly shelter.

The email explains it better than I can:

“Right now, we have 43,861 children who were hoping sponsors would step forward on their behalf this spring and summer, but it just hasn’t happened.

Why? Please give me a few moments to explain …

  1. The majority of children are sponsored when Christian musicians share about Food for the Hungry during their concerts.
  2. In response to the pandemic, concerts were canceled across the United States.
  3. So, thousands of children who would have received a sponsor this spring won’t, because fewer are learning about the opportunity.”

Friends, did you see that number? 43,861

That’s a lot of empty bellies.

If you would like to join me in supporting a child please click here. The cost is $38 a month.

Thank you for considering to help Food for the Hungry bring food, water, education, and Jesus to the lease of these.
