“…but let us encourage one another…” Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)
When I started this blog my target audience was American women early 20’s to 60’s who wanted to grow in their relationship with the Lord and organize their life. But as of late, I have discovered that is not my audience. Every now and then I take a look at Google Analytics to see how the blog is preforming. And every time I log into Google Analytics, I’m blown away by who you are. Half of you are men and half of you don’t live in the United States.
Since I made this discovery, I’ve noticed my writing has changed a bit. I am trying to speak as a Christian rather than a Christian mom or Christian woman.
Today, I am bringing you a simple, yet powerful message. “Let us encourage one another.” I don’t know about you, but every time I log into Facebook, I’m astounded by what people are saying or people are quoting other people saying. I feel like scratching my head and asking, “What is going on?” There are some posts that have a way of getting under my skin. Do you find this as well?
What is our response? How can we stand out against the noise and the hate? How about following our verse for today? “…but let us encourage one another.” Friends, be an encourager today!
Start with praying for the person who seems to be so hateful. What makes people act like that? I think it comes from a place of wounding or insecurity. They are hurting. They are lost. They are in need of love.
One of the things Kurt teaches in his parenting sessions is that children act out because they have a need that is not being met. The same could be true for the person who is spending their time insulting others. They are hurting. They have a need that is not being met.
It can be our mission to help meet that need by encouraging them to walk with Jesus, to spend time in God’s Word, and to feel loved by us.
What would the world look like if we all began loving people in spite of their behavior? What if instead of trying to be like Jesus we allowed Jesus to flow through us?
Today, encourage someone and watch to see how Jesus flows through you!
