Luke 17:5 NIV
“The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!'”
I have been reading through the book of Luke and came across this curious verse. The Lord is teaching about forgiveness, radical forgiveness. The disciples respond with this verse, “Increase our faith.”
I love their reaction to being stirred to a deeper walk. Jesus is calling them to do more than they had ever been taught before. Look at their response. Is that my response, is that your response? When challenged to do more than what we can imagine doing, do we ask for our faith to increase?
Now let’s look at our Lord’s next comment, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.” He is encouraging them in their request. When facing a challenge, ask to increase your faith, and watch what can happen with just a little faith.
Today, my prayer is simply their request, “Lord, increase my faith!” I want to see what will follow that prayer!
