Prepare Your Home for the Holidays Day 2: Entry/Mudroom

Prepare Your Home for the Holidays

Entry/Mudroom

I haven’t done the count yet to see how many days until Christmas, have you? But before Christmas we have Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays.  I don’t know if it’s the turkey and cranberries, the fall colors, or the cooler weather, maybe a combination of all of them, I just love the fall.  Prepare Your Home for the Holidays is not just about cleaning up and organizing but also decorating.

This week I am focusing on the Living Zone. Today we are starting with the entry.  I love walking up to a home and seeing a beautiful fall wreath.  When Kurt and I were planning our wedding I knew I wanted a fall wedding.  We were married on November 5, in our backyard.  Many of our fall decorations are from our wedding including this wreath that hangs on our front door.

I started by hanging the wreath on the door. I had Sara’s new school picture on the table in front of the frame.  I replaced the new picture in the frame.  We are still waiting for Kate’s school picture.  The basket of fall leaves on the table in our entry is the basket that Kate carried as our flower girl.  I always smile every fall when I place it there.  What a fun way to remember a great day!

We do have a desk opposite the table; I will be organizing that in a few days. This little space serves as our office.

The house is starting to look like fall. How about your house?  Share with us in the comments below.

Tomorrow I will tackle our two hall closets.

Are you ready to begin to Prepare Your Home for the Holidays?

Simple Steps:

Sweep your front porch and decorate your door.

Step inside and look at your entry.  Do you have more than one entry?  You may have a mudroom as well as a front entrance.  What needs organizing or cleaning?  Do that now!

Get your family involved in the decorating. If you don’t have fall decorations, make them with your kids.

Cross off your first assignment on your calendar!

Come back tomorrow as we organize our hall closets.
