Day 1: Take the 21 Day Bible Reading Challenge

Can you relate to the title of our series Squeezing Time for God in a Hectic Schedule? It’s hard to find time to do the “necessary” things let alone set aside an hour of causal Bible reading and prayer. Am I right? As the school year was winding down I stopped putting on eye shadow. Why? To save me those extra 30 seconds. So if I’m not adding a little color to my eyes, how can I find time to cultivate a relationship with God?

That’s backward thinking, but so common. I get it. I am on summer break and my quiet time with the Lord is wonderful. But I know myself, once I’m back at school, life will get crazy. I will be tired. And I will not want to wake up extra early to read my Bible. So, what will I do? I will press through and get up because without God’s Word, I cannot make it through the day. I may not read whole books of the Bible at one sitting, but even a nugget from God’s Word is all I need. If you have never tried to read your Bible on a daily basis I would like to encourage you to join me in the challenge to be in God’s Word daily. I know that’s going to take commitment. You can do it! For the next 21 days commit to read just one verse a day. Living Bellissima starts with reading God’s Word daily. If you have time to read this short blog post, you have time to read a verse.

I LOVE Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (NIV) This verse reminds me I need His Word, not just on Sunday, but every day, all day. If I want to go in His direction, I need His light. Are you ready to allow Him to guide you?

Simple Steps:

Commit to take the 21 Day Challenge .

Read the verse in the morning. Ask God to speak to your through His Word.

As you go through your day, try to remember the gist of the verse.

Read it again at bedtime. Reflect on the verse and your day. Did it apply to your day? Did it help you or encourage you?

As you drift to sleep, talk to the Lord about the verse.

The next morning do the same thing as the day before. After 21 days, I know you will see a difference in your life!

Tell me about how it’s going by leaving a comment below. Let’s encourage each other!
