Strength

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power to the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.  Isaiah 40:38-41 NIV

Every time I read these verses, I get goose bumps. I can just imagine Isaiah delivering this message to the people of God. I can hear him making dramatic pauses with the initial questions and booming out the last sentence.

What a mighty God we serve? He is everlasting. He is Creator. Take a moment and praise Him. Call out truths about Him that you have seen in your life, truths you know. You are Loving Father. You are my Salvation. You are King of Kings and Lord of Lords. You are Perfect. You are Holy. Praise You, Father, for You are Good.

“He will not grow tired or weary.” I grow tired and weary often. But my God does not! Compare what Isaiah says in the next sentence. “He gives strength to the weary.” He’s got our back. He knows we will lose strength and become exhausted. He sits in anticipation of just that. He is eager to pour out His strength on us.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Do you hope in the Lord? If so, He will renew your strength! He is a faithful God who will do as He says.

Not only will He “renew their strength.” But “they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Not only will He renew our strength, He will take us soaring “on wings like eagles.” Not only will “He renew their strength,” but “they will walk and not be faint.” He is a God who gives what we need in abundance.

I love these verses because I have lived them. As I was waiting to get on medicine for my arthritis, I could barely walk. Each step was excruciating. I would claim this verse as well as a few others as I was walking. With each step I would whisper, “I will walk and not be faint.” Through the power of the Lord Jesus, I was able to walk. He was my rock on whom I leaned. And lean I did.

Today as you go about your day, lean on Him. Declare these verses over your life.  Remind yourself of who you are and who’s you are.  Call to Him. He will give you strength.
